Visual theme of Molecular Reality Corporation's slides and web pages

Apex is the visual theme of Molecular Reality Corporation's slides and of several of its web pages, adopted on July 21, 2026. Apex pages are near-black, with a green accent, and a green line like the trace of an oscilloscope runs behind the text. The company's front page was built in it from August 19 to October 25, 2026.[1][2]

History

Apex began as one of five options. On July 21, 2026, a selector was added to a company slide presentation that let the viewer switch between the slides' navy and gold default and four named alternatives: Orbit, in blue; Helix, in teal, with magenta for warnings; Hermes, gold on a warm black; and Apex, green on near-black. Each had its own typefaces. Later that day a commit titled, in part, "Commit fully to Apex theme" settled the matter, and the green version of the company wordmark, known as its apex colorway, is dated the same day.[1]

The theme spread from there. The galleries of Iridian, 197 animated eyes rendered on July 24 and 25, were published in it, and so was the page for Molecular Self-Play.[1] On August 19 it became the front page of the company's websites: the apex wordmark, the sentence "everybody's racing to build the brain, we're building the eye.", and a looping video of an eye, framed by a thin navy border and a faint green glow.[2] On October 25 the front page passed to Molecupedia, which is white.

Palette and type

Apex was written over the navy scheme and kept that scheme's names for its colors. Its near-black background is stored as "navy" and its green accent as "gold"; the greens of the traces and the borders are the only colors the two schemes share.[1]

The trace

The trace is the theme's signature. On the slides it starts as noise and settles into a clean signal, over a faint grid of dots that kept the blue-grey tint of the navy scheme, while a small green light in the top left corner blinks every 1.7 seconds.[1]

On the front page the trace was never allowed to settle. A comment in the page's code says so: "Trace never resolves". The line scrolled past without end, green except for a blue stretch that stayed behind the wordmark. Its dips came from a formula. One in five of them pointed upward, as a conductive pulse does in a real nanopore recording, and about a quarter were followed at once by a smaller dip, the way a current blockade sometimes steps.[2]
