demonpore.com is a web address registered on December 24, 2014 for the sliding-pore project of Kent Kemmish, which became demonpore, inc. in 2018 and Molecular Reality Corporation in 2021. It is the oldest of the four web addresses the company has registered, and the only one that carries a retired name of the company. The address opens the company's main website.

Registration
The registry's record gives the creation time as 05:05:16 UTC on December 24, 2014, a Wednesday. Among the dated events in the early history of the company, the registration comes first. The project's first slide deck is dated by its founder to "around 2015", the priority date of his patent application is May 9, 2017, demonpore, inc. was incorporated in 2018, and molecularreality.com was registered on July 18, 2021, about six and a half years after the older address.

The name
The word joins the demon of Maxwell's demon, the imaginary gatekeeper that sorts molecules at a hole in a wall, to the pore of a nanopore. According to a 2026 post that Kemmish wrote in the voice of the company's cartoon demon, Maxine, the name began when he explained his sliding pore and "it reminded a colleague of those little cartoons" that illustrate the demon. The first slide deck spelled it DEMONPORE™ and gave a page to the question "So... What's with the Name?" Later the company wrote it in lowercase, and in 2026 it defined a demonpore as a pore that measures each molecule as it arrives and then decides whether to let it pass, send it back or hold it.

Other words grew from it. Kemmish calls the staff of those years "teamonpore" and their pores "demonpores", and a video of the period is titled "wet dpore EDH 1 100 mM KCl".

Use
In the field guide that Keltar narrates, the first answer lists the addresses that lead to the company's website: "The home address is epicquest.bio. The address molecularreality.com points to the same site, as does demonpore.com, an old name I mention exactly once in this entire guide." The visible text of the guide names the domain once. The copy of the same answer that the page embeds for search engines says "one older domain name" in its place.

Since October 25, 2026 the address has opened the Molecupedia article on the company. Before that, the front page of the company's site took several forms in 2026, which Websites of Molecular Reality Corporation lists.

After the rename
The company dropped the name in 2021 and kept the address. Kemmish said in 2026 that the company had attracted "veiled death threats" whenever it drew attention online, and that this was his reason for changing the name. The full passage is quoted in the article on demonpore, inc.. The console that the company had designed under the old name kept it, and in 2026 Kemmish wrote that the company still wanted to ship "a very similar product and call it the 'demonpore 64'".
